See Woon is a Senior Patent Attorney in the Intellectual Property Department. He specializes in patent preparation and prosecution. He has close to 30 years of working experience in both engineering and work (including production, and hardware and software R&D), and in patent related work.

Experience / Areas of Practice

See Woon graduated with a Diploma in Electronics and Communication Engineering where he was Awarded the Certificate of Merit for outstanding performance. He then graduated with a BSc. in Electrical and Electronic Engineering with First Class Honours from the University of Surrey, UK. His engineering masters in Computer Science at the University of New South Wales, Australia was conducted under an Equity and Merit Scholarship from the Australian International Development Assistance Bureau (AIDAB). Similarly, after successfully completing a certificate in patent drafting by the Southeast Asian Drafting Patents Board of FICPI Training and Education Commission for a 3-month placement with an IP firm in Australia.

See Woon has previously acquired the necessary qualifications doe registration as an Australian trademark attorney and thus partial qualifications towards registration as an Australian Patent Attorney.

See Woon has extensive experience in intellectual property in the electronics industry. Prior to joining Yusarn Audrey, See Woon was the IP counsel or patent attorney for MNCs dealing with semiconductors, electronic test and measurement equipment, smart card products and solutions, and computing and communication devices. See Woon’s experience in various in-house positions and in private practice has allowed him the opportunity to work in several technology areas and he has been exposed to and is familiar with patent practice in major jurisdictions.

His substantial engineering experience comes in handy for his patent practice as it allows him to better appreciate technical concerns and understand a variety of engineering concepts, so that patent specifications can be drafted with a balance of the breadth of claim scope, and description of embodiments better able to meet enablement requirement.

His substantial drafting experience includes drafting of more than 120 patent applications relating to a wide variation of technologies including mechanical, manufacturing processes, software and electronic inventions.
