Ian graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Life Sciences from the National University of
Singapore with a major in Molecular and Cell Biology, and later obtained his Master of Science
Degree in Biomedical Engineering from the Nanyang Technological University (Singapore).

Ian has over 15 years of patent experience, with a substantial portion of that time being in private
practice drafting and prosecuting patents in a variety of technical areas including biotechnology and
medical technology, where he served clients ranging from research institutions to multinational
corporations. He once helped a client build a patent portfolio from the ground up that was part of an
intellectual property (IP) portfolio which received a multimillion dollar valuation for purposes of IP
financing.

Prior to joining Yusarn Audrey, Ian spent several years in-house at a large medical device
manufacturer working with inventors, various stakeholders in the business and external patent
counsel. During this time, Ian acquired significant experience in strategic patent portfolio
management and patent clearance work, and he has notably been involved in patent oppositions
and investigative patent enforcement work.

Ian is accordingly familiar with the various stages of the patent lifecycle and patent practice in major
jurisdictions. His private practice and in-house experiences have equipped him with the necessary
skills to help clients protect their inventions, develop valuable patent portfolios and extract their
value for the success of their businesses.
