Dr Wendy Leong Wen Yi (Patent Scientist)

Wendy is a Patent Scientist in the Intellectual Property Department of the firm. She advises clients on their patent filing strategy, drafts patent specifications and assists in worldwide prosecution of patent applications. She was awarded the Association of Singapore Patent Attorneys (ASPA) Book Prize for attaining the highest score in Paper B (Amendment of a Patent Specification) in the Singapore Patent Agents Qualifying Examination held in 2016.
Prior to joining Yusarn Audrey, Wendy was with a large patent firm dealing with patent work which include patent drafting, prosecution and registration.
Wendy has an extensive research experience in polymer chemistry, pharmacokinetics, chemical biology, food science, and catalysis. Her Ph. D thesis was directed towards the development of organo- and metal-catalyzed reactions using water as the solvent. She is a co-author of 11 research articles in top international peer-reviewed journals, which include Nature Chemistry, the Journal of the American Chemical Society, and Green Chemistry. Part of her research was carried out with a research group known for their work in micellar chemistry at the University of California, Santa Barbara.
Due to her contributions in the development of a green chemistry technology which was recognized to prevent pollution and have broad applicability in industry, she was awarded the Presidential Green Chemistry Challenge Award by the Environmental Protection Agency, USA, in 2011.
Wendy is the Chairman of the Membership Committee of the Singapore National Institute of Chemistry (SNIC), which is the national body for the chemical profession in Singapore. Due to her meaningful contributions to the advancement of SNIC, she was awarded the SNIC Merit Service Award in 2019.
