In 2007, Sue was voted an IP Luminary by her peers in a worldwide review of IP advisors, which was sponsored by the Managing Intellectual Property publication, and she was a judge for The Female Inventor of the Year awards in the UK in both 2008 and 2009. Sue has also served on the Council of the Chartered Institute of Patent Attorneys (CIPA), which sets the professional exams for the patent profession in the UK.
Sue has acted for major “blue chip” corporations as well as individuals and SMEs in fields ranging from medical devices, semi-conductor devices, coatings, metallurgy, the automotive industry, microbial formulations to renewable energy in the UK and Europe; and has provided advice on IP portfolios to the investor community there. She has extensive experience working with universities in the UK and Europe, working in close co-operation with their Research & Development department, assisting them in conducting invention harvesting from academics & invention assessment, advising on licensing agreements, commercialisation and managing their IP portfolio.
Sue has been very much involved in training, being a tutor for the European Patent Institute and a member of the Joint Examination Board for the Chartered Institute of Patent Attorneys (CIPA). She has also lectured to the business community in the UK and Europe, including to the Institute of Directors, and written articles for the International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property and for World Export publications.
