Patrick moved to Singapore in August 2016, from his former home base in Silicon Valley, California. Patrick is a registered US patent attorney and US attorney-at-law with an electrical engineering background and twenty plus years of legal experience. Over his career, Patrick has worked, in near equal proportions, within the legal specialties of patent prosecution, patent litigation, and technology licensing.
Experience / Areas of Practice
Before joining Yusarn Audrey, Patrick worked in various patent law firms in the US and Singapore, including one of the largest Singapore law firms. He specializes in patent drafting and patent prosecution work at Yusarn Audrey, particularly in the technology areas of FinTech, E-Commerce, Blockchain, Data Storage, and Electrical Power Systems.
Patrick has extensive in-house legal experience having worked at National Semiconductor (an analogue and wireless semiconductor chip manufacturer, now a division of Texas Instruments), Nichia Chemical (the world’s top solid-state lighting and blue laser diode manufacturer), and Western Digital (the world’s top data storage company).
In addition to his extensive experience of patent prosecution, patent litigation and technology licensing, Patrick is an accomplished speaker having presented at many business and legal events including Digital Thailand Big Bang 2017, Singapore-Thailand Chamber of Commerce, and Intellectual Property for Thailand 4.0, Knowledge Network Institute of Thailand, “Improving Patent Development Policies”, A*Start Central, “One-to-One Legal Clinic for Start-ups”, Center Force USA, biannual panelist on IP law issues, Innography, Palo Alto Training Roadshow, IP Counsel Forum, “Recent Cases Affecting In-House Practice”, patent review committees, invention mining and training sessions. He has also been on the Judging panel for Biotechnology Young Entrepreneurs Scheme (YES).
